Love Letter
Love Letter
I've been lying here for hours
Wondering what to say
I thought I might send flowers
Coloured bright and gay
I'm clutching your last letter
With words of your bright love
Each new word is better
Like laughter from above
I read so many times
Your letter so sublime
Emotions like pure chimes
To waste them is a crime
I waited for the postman
Startled when he came
Arriving in his red van
He started down my lane
I opened up my front door
And welcomed in his hoard
Found letters just to bore
And one from you, my Lord
I quickly cracked the seal
Took in your richly praise
I missed the evening meal
At your letter I did gaze
I've been lying here for hours
Wondering what to say
I thought I might send flowers
Coloured bright and gay
Now I know the gift I'll send
I'll send myself to you
Our love today will never end
This ever-lasting brew
I've been lying here for hours
Wondering what to say
I thought I might send flowers
Coloured bright and gay
I'm clutching your last letter
With words of your bright love
Each new word is better
Like laughter from above
I read so many times
Your letter so sublime
Emotions like pure chimes
To waste them is a crime
I waited for the postman
Startled when he came
Arriving in his red van
He started down my lane

And welcomed in his hoard
Found letters just to bore
And one from you, my Lord

Took in your richly praise

At your letter I did gaze
I've been lying here for hours
Wondering what to say
I thought I might send flowers
Coloured bright and gay
Now I know the gift I'll send
I'll send myself to you
Our love today will never end
This ever-lasting brew
