New World
New World
They call it the new world
Yet all it does is echo the past
They got rid of all the forests
But the darkness of its shade
Has found a new home
Burrowing deep into our souls
The bats of the caves
Have all been driven off
But their screams still resound
In the cry of a dying child
The birds have flown away
The magpie steals no more
Though its memories live on
In the fingers of a thief
A world once ruled by life
Shared eternity with death
Becomes God's solitary game
Of a politician's wish
They call it the new world
Yet all it does is echo the past
They got rid of all the forests
But the darkness of its shade
Has found a new home
Burrowing deep into our souls
The bats of the caves
Have all been driven off
But their screams still resound
In the cry of a dying child
The birds have flown away
The magpie steals no more
Though its memories live on
In the fingers of a thief
A world once ruled by life
Shared eternity with death
Becomes God's solitary game
Of a politician's wish
